| Match report | A truly pulsating game worthy of a showing on match of the day. Right from the kick off both sides were on top form with end to end attacks. Jack looking comfortable on the ball in centre field spraying balls left and right to set up a string of attacks. Ruby was then called into action in the Fulford goal rushing off her line to thwart a promising Stamford Bridge move, quickly turning Fulford defence into attack and from the resulting move William found himself bearing down on the opposition goal calmly stroking the ball home to open the scoring. Stamford Bridge soon levelled but straight from the kick off Eddie won the ball and smuggled it through a packed opposition defence where William was on hand to rifle it past the keeper. Back came Stamford once more and they scored two quick goals to go into the break with a 3 - 2 lead. The second half started as the first half finished with attack after attack at both ends. Stamford forced Eddie into two fine saves and Miles and Ruby were once more stalwarts in defence breaking down numerous opposition attacks, after one such move Annabel brilliantly won the ball in midfield and passed to Jack who swept up field and with a superb defence splitting pass found William in space who scored to level the game yet again. Another great play by Ruby and Miles released William who found the back of the net again to claim his fourth goal and give Fulford the lead once more. Back came Stamford Bridge again to level the game at 4 - 4 and deep into the second half yet another attack made it 5 - 4 to Stamford, Fulford poured forward late on with both Jack and Ruby unlucky not to claim a deserved equaliser but on the break with the last play of the game Stamford scored to end a brilliant game 6 - 4 in their favour. Player of the match : Annabel, a superb display in central midfield, battling through injury to help out the team. |
