| Match report | Fulford travelled to Tadcaster on a wet overcast day for their first game of 2014. Despite all the rain over the last few weeks the pitches were in excellent condition. Fulford kicked off playing up the slope and were soon into their stride, with a lot of early attacks coming through Sam down the right wing. Fulford were having the majority of possession, but when Tadcaster did break forward Jonathan made some great tackles and interceptions. The first goal came after 5 minutes when Paul got the ball about 20 yards out and jinked past a player and hit a shot which found the bottom left hand corner. Fulford continued to push forward and were denied by a series of blocks and good saves. The second goal came when Sam found Paul on the right and his cross was met by Luca, whose shot rebounded to Freddie who tapped in from close range. In the second half, Fulford scored a cracking goal, inspite of the worsening weather conditions as the wind had strengthened and the rain had got much heavier. Harle found Paul on the right and Luca made a great run towards the right which created space for Paul to run into down the middle. They worked the one-two perfectly and Paul slotted the ball past the keeper for the third goal. Sam, Luca and Nicholas were linking up well going forward and from one such move this led to a shot from Nicholas from just outside the box creeping in inside the bottom left corner. Tadcaster threatened at the end, but Jack was having a great game in defence and stopped a certain goal with an amazing block from a long range shot. The second game was cancelled due to the worsening weather conditions, but much credit must go to the players of both Fulford and Tadcaster for braving the weather conditions. Many thanks to Stuart and all the coaches at Tadcaster for all their hard work in marking out the pitches and setting up the goals, to get some football on today. |
