| Match report | Fulford approached the penultimate game of the season needing only a point to retain their league title. The opponents were Kirkbymoorside who had inflicted their only defeat of the season the previous week. The game kicked off and Fulford were immediately on the attack. The home side were awarded a free kick just outside the box and Elisha placed the ball. She struck a fantastic free kick into the top right hand corner to take the lead. Fulford controlled the game with Issie & Elisha linking up superbly. Beth made a fantastic run from front to back but as she closed in on goal she shot just wide. Beth & Emma F were solid as a rock at the back and the keeper didn't have a shot to save in the first half. A shot from Issie as half time approached doubled Fulford's lead and the halftime score was 2:0. Captain Jez picked up an injury and was replaced by Kirstin at halftime. The away side put some pressure on at the beginning of the second half but Fulford coped well and again started to control the game. Lucy D was excellent throughout and created numerous chances and it was her cross that Kirstin converted to make the score 3:0. Connie replaced Emma F and played really well, Zara replaced Lucy D and passed the ball well. When the final whistle blew there was great celebration as the league title was won. Congratulations to all the players and thanks to the support we have received throughout the campaign. |
