Match report | It took Fulford the first 15 minutes to get to grips with a lively home team and shake off a few cobwebs of our own. The boys should be credited with attempting to pass their way out of defence early on, but we found ourselves unable to get out of our own half. Wigginton soon broke free in the area and a clinical finish put them 1-0 up. Wigginton were fortunate to grab a second soon after when a deflection off two defenders wrong footed Joe, hit the post and rebounded back off Joe into the net. Jonathon pulled a crucial goal back just before half time with a long range shot that squirmed under the Wigginton keeper. At half time we tweaked the formation and sought to get the ball forward more quickly. Suddenly we gained a hold on the match. Luke was at the heart of every good move, Liam did some unselfish running and Clemmie was very effective in breaking up play. Sedar went in goal and pulled off some crucial early saves. Joe, Sam and Luke were all composed on the ball in bringing it out from defence. With the match drawing to a close came the game's highlight as Luke pulled off a sublime defence-splitting pass (reminiscent of Steven Gerrard v Fulham last year!) to release Liam who made no mistake as defenders bore down on him. In the end the final whistle came as a relief for Wigginton. Man of the Match was Luke for that fantastic pass. |
