| Match report | We were up against Haxby today and this was going to be one of those games that would depend how we started the game. The Lions started shakily and could not string many passes together but the echoing comment from Andy informing the players that a York City scout was monitoring seemed to do the trick and we began to play well utilising the width well. Damian put us 1-0 up with a fine strike after 20 mins and added two more in succession. One was a cheeky lob over the gk’s head. Some great wing play from Louis and some superb marshalling by Alfie were key to our composure. Ethan’s set piece corners/free kicks were key as they assisted all three goals. We were 3-0 up at half time and looked confident against a Haxby side who have recently lost a couple of strong players. We came out after half time determined to push for further goals and were unlucky with Damian, Ollie and Louis going close again. Another Ethan corner saw the defence clear it but only to George who stuck a fine left foot shot from the edge of the box which totally bamboozled their goalkeeper. 4-0 in the Lions favour. Damian headed in the fifth from a magnificent Louis cross to complete a 5-0 victory. The defence were rarely tested but when they were Ellis, Sim and Dougie stopped the Haxby strike force. Jake had little to do but still kept his concentration. The game ended 5-0. The Lions were strong today and gained some confidence back after back to back defeats recently. The PotM was chosen by the players today and Louis and Damian gained 3 votes each to tie the PotM. The votes were scattered which showed a great team performance.
