Match report | Well imagine the thought...Scarborough away in early September....sunshine and fish and chips....how wrong could we be!! In horrendous conditions with the rain and a cross field wind so began our first game of the season. With a few girls playing their first game of the season and a different formation it might have put the girls off but we started the first half unplayable. From April in goal, Annie sweeping, Olivia and Brooke in defence and our midfield putting balls through there defence for fun for Alyah to run on to, and with better finishing (Alyah set her own standard last season) we should of had the game won and out of sight. It was down to Chloe (playing left midfield from her normal right) who scored our first goal ( just like last season) with a well taken goal . We sat back and conceded to make it 1-1, that was until Alyah got her boots on the right feet and scored 2 quick goals to make it 3-1 at half time. We started the second half ok as the conditions got worse with Scarborough changing their whole team every 5 mins! Ciara came on to add to the defence as Alyah completed her hat trick and got a forth with Chloe and Lucy also scoring impressive goals although how Lucy missed at the back post only she knows!! their gk also made a few saves to keep the score down. We conceded a penalty, very dodgy !! which they scored(in between a couple of our goals) and a late effort with the match finishing 7-3 to Fulford. Annie was girl of the game as she controlled the defence but Chloe pushed her very hard and was a hard one to call this week. Very pleased with all the girls AGAIN!! We didn't play a friendly due to the bad conditions but settled for bacon butties in the club house. My only issue and I'm being picky now (as coach you always have to be honest) was the way we weren't strong enough in the tackles ( think I shouted "tackle" a million times) and not getting back after losing the tackle, something to work on in training. |
