| Match report | Onto the second game and this one was equally as entertaining as the 1st. I think also that although the history books will say that we lost 1-0, if this were a boxing match we would have easily have won on points! So on with the game. Sofia had been released from her shackles from playing in goal and was now enjoying herself up front. In the 1st half we managed to carve the Bridge apart on numerous occasions and although our carvery was good, we just couldn’t find the icing to place on top of the cake! I think I lost count of the number of times that Laura, Beth R and Sofia found themselves bearing down on goal, but were unfortunate to either find the keeper in inspired form or shot narrowly wide from difficult angles. Meanwhile up the other end Sandy and Elle were playing calmly and confidently at the back blunting the Bridge’s carving knife with the help of Georgie in goal. 1st half finished 0-0, but with the Foxes 8-2 up on points and yet to find the right mix for their icing! Into the 2nd half and Georgie moved up front with Sophie M playing in goal. Again it was all 1 way traffic with in particular Laura controlling affairs in midfield and pulling all the strings, so much so that I was beginning to think we were playing beautiful music in midfield with all the girls dancing in rhythm to the same upbeat tune. There were numerous crescendos when we thought the great kettle drums were going to start rumbling with the ball hitting the back of the net, but unfortunately for Georgie, Laura and Elle who shared a fair few chances between them, it just wasn’t going to be. The Bridge sneaked it with a rare incursion into the Foxes half and the game finished 1-0. Girl of the game: Laura - Conducted the orchestra in midfield beautifully and was unlucky not to bang the drums in celebration of the goal she deserved for her endeavours. |
