Match report   There’s a very well know footballing and almost worn out cliché and that is this was a game of 2 halves! And this particular game against a very skilful and well drilled Scotton Scorchers team lived up to that particular cliché!

The 1st half was a half of nearly uninterrupted domination for the Scorchers from Scotton. Now I thought there were 2 kinds of pressure games that you can play in football and that’s the high pressure game where you pressurise high up the park and the low pressure game where you get bodies behind the ball, midfielders in front of defenders. But from where I was standing it appeared that the Foxes adopted a new pressure game and that was the no pressure game! The Scorchers were invited to waltz through midfield straight into our bank of 6 or 7 at the back and we paid the price by conceding 2 and if it wasn’t for the heroics of Sofia who Andy the Scotton manager was full of praise for, the Foxes would have been left with a mountain to climb in the 2nd half. The Foxes managed just the one move of note in the 1st half, when Dani got in behind the Scotton defenders to cross and just miss the outstretched boot of Sophie Mole who’d made a great run from the centre of the park.

On with the 2nd half and a totally different Foxes team had appeared. This time they were playing the high pressure game and as a result were dominating possession and playing most of the half inside Scotton territory. Lets be honest there were a few scares down the Foxes end, with Scotton coming closest after a clearance from Sofia when straight to a Scotton player who banged in back for it to loop over Sofia’s head but just agonisingly wide. Also straight from a Scotton corner, the ball was blasted into the corner of the Foxes goal with Sofia beaten, however Laura had kept her discipline on the goaline to make a goal saving clearance, which would have meant game set and match to Scotton.

Up the other end Amy had had a few breaks down the middle and she was being ably supported by Dani on the Right and Georgie down the left and 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Amy kept her composure after a goalmouth scramble to slot home after making a neat turn with her back to goal. A succession of nearlys followed for the Foxes, Emily shooting over from a freekick and Dani somehow missing from 2 yards out after the ball took a nasty bobble! Time was fast running out and with a minute left on the clock, Amy unleashed a rasping shot AKA Steven Gerrard to beat the keeper in the bottom right hand corner. Game over and the Foxes hard work and endeavour had been rewarded in the 2nd half. Hard lines to Scotton who just couldn’t keep the momentum from the 1st half going.

Girl of the game for the Foxes: Laura – Made a critical goaline clearance, put in a string of great tackles and made some great surging runs down the left.

Finally, a quick note for the subs who didn't make it onto the park. I know it must have been very frustrating for you, so I thank you for your patience. We have a run now of 4 games where I hope to make more use of the depth in our squad, which as always is rwally important and makes us such a strong team.
