Match report | Three goals for Strensall in the first half, two back for Fulford early in the second, and then two more for Strensall including an amazing last-minute back-flick volley. The first half was a struggle at times for the Tigers. As we’ve done before, we often made things much too easy for the opposition. When we took a throw-in or goal-kick it was almost always a Strensall player who got to it first. Tigers – have a think about this: What can you do as a player to make sure the possession stays with our team when we have a throw-in, a goal-kick, a kick-off or a corner? Where are you going to be? What will you be doing? What will you do when the ball comes to you? What will you do to make sure your team gets the ball and keeps it, and not your opponents? I said after last week’s game that a tremendous amount of work was put in by one or two – and the same was true this week. But some other players could have done better today to help the team. In the second half the Tigers created two good goals, finished off by Henry. But then we let Strensall have lots more easy possession, and they made good use of it with nice passing, strong running and some lovely finishing. We can pass, run and score like them, but not if we let them have the ball all the time. |
