| Match report | As with the preliminary round of the York FA Cup, Fulford started this cup campaign away to the team topping Division 2. Fulford looked dangerous from the start and only some good defending from the Panther's Centre Halves stopped Will and Frankie from opening the scoring. The first goal came following some good build up play down the right from Harrison and Joe C. The ball was played in to Will who let it run through to Frankie, who shot powerfully in to the bottom left hand corner. Frankie was unlucky not to have another minutes later when a powerful finish was ruled out for an earlier offside. Panthers had some quick lively forwards of their own and only some good work from the Fulford Defenders, particularly Tom Blades, and some good handling from Tom H in goal, prevented them from equalising. Fulford went two up when Joe I played the ball through to Frankie. He held it up while Ross made a fantastic run beyond his marker in the inside left channel and hit a first time shot into the bottom left hand corner for an excellent goal. In the run up to half-time Fulford looked comfortable and would have been confident that they would add to their lead. However Panthers pulled a goal back which reflected their good play in the first half. A good move in midfield led to an overlap down the left, the cross was played in and the Panthers striker scored from close range. Panthers started the second half strongly and hit the post. Fulford re-asserted themselves and restored a two goal lead shortly after. Olly won the ball in midfield and passed to Harrison, who played a fine through ball to Will, who ran through to beat the keeper. Isaac added a fourth when he collected a loose ball on the edge of the box and checked on to his right foot and scored with a low hard shot in to the bottom right hand corner. Panthers pulled a goal back five minutes from the end from the penalty spot, but Will nearly kept the powerful strike out as he did manage to get a hand on it. |
