| Match report | I could tell from training that the boys were up for this one as they know most of thier players, it was proberly one of the best training sessions we have had on Wed night everyone wanted to play in this one. We played very well with everyone wanting the ball and keeping it very well but the main improvment from the Easingwold game was the effort. We all ran and chased everything and got the ball back as soon as we lost it. Tackles were made instead of being half hearted and we were following runners instead of leaving it for someone else to do. Why can't we do this to sides a lot weaker than Heworth? They scored in the first half when a through ball saw thier winger stood five yards offside have a free shot at goal and without refs we were never going to get the decission, I think they have to be ten yards off to get them. This apart we had most of the half and our heads never went down we kept going and were playing by far the better football. Harry, Pip and Dan took control of the midfield and kept the ball well. In the second half we had a number of chances and could have been level with a bit off luck, but at the moment we just arn't finishing our chances. We let another in halfway through the second half against the run of play and just after thier keeper had kept them in the game with a fine save. Still we kept our heads up and kept playing great footie trying to push for a goal. This was leaving gaps at the back wich Joe Robbo was mopping up excellently but eventually pushing for a goal we lost another, Jamie cleared it off the line but it fell lucky for them and the finished into an empty net. At the end off the game we had been beaten but we had played terriffic football and could hold our heads high. We need to play with this intensity every game from now on and we will be ok.l |
